About Postwright

Postwright makes test data for software that has to handle addresses from anywhere: checkout forms, CRMs, shipping integrations, onboarding flows and data pipelines.

Why it exists

Most fake address generators cover a handful of countries, pair random cities with random postcodes, and hand out e-mail addresses that real people can receive. That is no use for testing international address handling, and it can cause harm. Postwright starts from open postal data instead. It is open about which parts are real, and when it does not know something, it says so rather than inventing it.

Principles

  • Geography that holds together. Town, region and postcode come from the same dataset record.
  • Local formats and scripts. Each address follows the national layout and script, with a Latin version alongside.
  • Labelled uncertainty. Every postcode and phone number carries a status, and every country carries a coverage level.
  • Safe by default. Reserved e-mail domains, fictional phone ranges, and no ID or payment card numbers.
  • No accounts, no tracking of what you generate. Generation runs in your browser.

Corrections

If a format, region or name list is wrong for your country, the fix usually belongs in one configuration file and is applied to every generator at once. The data sources page lists every input and its known limits.
